Meet Sarah

Lifelong maker, passionate teacher, and devoted fiber artist.

Alongside teaching, I’ve been passionate about sewing, knitting, crochet, and making things by hand for as long as I can remember. I started around age eight, sewing clothes for my stuffed animals, and later moved on to using patterns to make my own clothes, prom dresses, and Halloween costumes. Over the years I’ve also made many quilts using a variety of techniques, including hand appliqué, English paper piecing, and foundation paper piecing. I love learning new techniques and finding ways to bring ideas to life. I often hear myself saying, "I could make that!" Each winter I design a unique holiday card to send to friends and family, and in the last year I finally got my hands on a Cricut Maker 3, which has been a lot of fun to explore. I also dabble in other crafts like jewelry making and weaving, and I even enjoy experimenting with metalwork.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is simple: make learning feel doable and fun. I meet each student where they are, break skills into clear and easy to remember steps, and tailor lessons to the person in front of me. Some students like to watch first, others learn best by trying right away, and both approaches are welcome.

I focus on practical, hands-on learning with real projects, not just theory. Along the way, I explain the “why” behind each step so you can keep making progress between lessons. The goal is steady confidence and momentum, not perfection.

Sarah has been teaching my 12-year old daughter to sew in weekly lessons at our house and it has been so excellent - she is patient and kind and fun (and v. knowledgeable).

Sarah was my daughter’s sewing instructor, and during that time she made great leaps in her ability and understanding of sewing. It was really impressive to see what she worked on week to week, and it helped build a love of sewing that continues to this day.
